OrigamiOrigami System Requirements
Origami runs on Windows and macOS. Below are the requirements for the operating system, hardware, and internet access.
Operating System
- Windows: Windows 10 or higher, 64-bit
- macOS (Apple Silicon): macOS 11 or higher
- macOS (Intel): macOS 10.15 or higher
Hardware
- CPU: the CPU is used for folding, so a modern processor is recommended.
- RAM: 16 GB recommended for general use, 32 GB or more for complex projects.
- GPU: an upper mid-range graphics card is recommended for smooth scene rendering.
- Disk space: about 500 MB of free disk space, plus additional space for your projects and artwork.
As a rule of thumb: if your computer runs Adobe Illustrator comfortably, Origami will run smoothly as well.
Adobe Illustrator Integration
Adobe Illustrator is not required. Origami works on its own: you can open existing projects, view 3D models, and export the results.
Connecting to Illustrator or another vector editor is only needed if you want to create and edit dielines in real time. Supported Adobe Illustrator versions:
- Windows: Illustrator CS6 or newer (64-bit)
- macOS (Apple Silicon): Illustrator 2021 or newer
- macOS (Intel): Illustrator CS6 or newer
Internet Access
An internet connection is required to activate the license, check for updates, and use the dieline generator. If a firewall, proxy, or antivirus blocks the connection, see Firewall and Network Problems.
