Origami

Dieline making software with Adobe Illustrator integration. Make dielines, check them for errors, animate and convert to 3D models.

What is Origami?

Origami is professional dieline software for creating and verifying 2D packaging designs by transforming them into accurate 3D models. It integrates with vector editors like Adobe Illustrator, allowing designers to preview folding animations, apply artwork, and check dielines for errors before production.

Integration with Vector Editors

Origami comes with Adobe Illustrator plugin for convenience, but works with virtually any vector editor capable of importing and exporting SVG files, like Affinity Designer.

Origami seamlessly handles dieline and artwork integration. Create a dieline, export it to your preferred vector editor for graphic enhancements, get it back, simulate the 3D folding, and deliver professional results directly to your client.

Origami Features

• No dependencies added — Origami uses layers and path names and styles to configure dielines, so the Illustrator projects don't depend on Origami once finished;
• Folding animation — configure the order the shape is folded, preview the animation, fine-tune if needed;
• 3D Export — Origami exports to GLTF, OBJ and Collada formats. These then can be loaded to Boxshot for further processing;
• 3D HTML — Origami creates self-sufficient HTML files with interactive models that can be sent directly to the customer for review;
• Rendering — Origami comes with a built-in renderer, but scenes can also be exported to Boxshot for more rendering options;
• Paper parameters — built-in paper type editor lets you specify paper thickness and other parameters;
• Artwork on both sides — artwork can be specified for both front and back sides of paper;
• Foil — add extra reflective layer by using a special spot color filling.

Dieline Verification

Origami performs thorough dieline validation, delivering precise diagnostics and actionable insights to resolve production issues. According to our customers, the software pays for itself within a month by preventing costly print errors.

Generating Dielines

You get a complimentary access to the dieline generator while your license is valid, so you don't need to draw dielines yourself. Just select from the list of most popular ECMA and FEFCO layouts, customize dimensions and get the dieline ready in seconds, not hours!
